Lavender Toss

IMG_4813“Thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” 2 Corinthians 2:14

I grab a handful of lavender from the basket. The aroma is soothing. Refreshing. Relaxing.

A palm of dried lavender buds. Smelling the fragrance. It is strong—but pleasant. A scent known for it’s calming power.

Waiting for the bride and groom—the processional celebration.

The newlyweds make their way down the path of neatly laid stones. The guests tossing handfuls of lavender. Bidding farewell. A bouquet of sweetness. A happy aroma fills the air. Well wishes for the couple laced with the lingering fragrant night air—full of lavender.

After the release, the incense of lavender lingers in my palm—settling as it spreads to the surrounding skin on my fingers.

God leads us in a victory parade. A bride and groom celebration…

“As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.” Isaiah 62:5b

God is holding us in the palm of his hand. A fragrant offering because of Christ—victory over the cross—over death.

Through us the fragrance of Christ lingers. Everywhere we go—we are tossing an aroma. In Christ—the nail pierced palm, we are spreading the knowledge of him. The scent is strong—but pleasant. A bouquet of sweetness fills the air. Well wishes for anyone who will come…down the path…to the cornerstone. Jesus.

“Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage supper of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7
