A Better Deal Than Walmart’s Price Match

Are you kidding me? I always get in the wrong check-out line.

Maybe you’re a thrifty shopper. While I may clip and save a few coupons, I don’t take time to search sale papers and gain advantage of the best prices.

The Wrong Line

Who has time for this? And how much is actually saved? Yet, I found myself in the same position again. Behind the I-need-the-best-price person. Waiting.

Apparently, if you bring the ad with you and Walmart’s price is higher, they’ll match the competitor’s lower price. The shopper in front of me carefully showed the cashier each ad. One by one.

It’s too late to go to another register. A portion of my items for purchase filled the available space on the counter. I’d hoped to not be long. To grab what I needed and get out of there. Fast.

I’ve been guilty of snapping a picture of the save-a-quarter-or-dollar customer. Then I send the picture off to my husband in a smart phone text with an impatient caption. Something to the effect, “Ugh! This only happens to me! I’ll be a minute getting home.”

Divine Appointments IMG_6383

There’s something I’m embarrassed to admit. I pray the Lord gives me divine appointments when I’m running errands or shopping. To lead me to people He wants me to notice and meet along the way.

Someone who needs help to find a product or a kind word from a stranger. Perhaps, she could use a few extra dollars at the register when she comes up short. The lady who’s about to tell the cashier, “I won’t be able to purchase all these items.” Necessities such as food.

The Lord has special assignments for me. Opportunities to show the compassion of my Lord that will possibly lead to sharing the gospel.

Just a few short weeks ago, I met a Walmart employee, Marie. She started a conversation with me and we discussed spiritual issues. And talked about Jesus. I’ve spoken with Marie on another trip to Walmart and she remembered my name. Such a sweet lady. I love those moments!

But it seems I try to control God-ordained moments. When I’m running on empty. When I’ve had a long day. When I’m in a hurry. I need to extend the same grace (and patience) to the price-match person. The man or woman who needs the better deal.

The Best Deal

As a matter of fact, I’m familiar with the deal of all deals. A humdinger. You won’t find it advertised in a local paper or mailer. It’s not for sale at your local Walmart. The price can’t be matched.

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it” (Matthew 13:44-46, NIV).

Words about Jesus:

“He paid a great price for you when He bought you” (1 Corinthians 7:23, NLV).

Words to Jesus:

“And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll Image courtesy of Unsplash.com

and to open its seals,

because you were slain,

and with your blood you purchased for God

persons from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9, NIV).

Christ came to earth to set up the ultimate divine appointment. Heaven. The price for the kingdom of heaven has been set—one of great value. There are no coupons to clip and save. Jesus saves us. With His own blood.

We were purchased for God when Christ was slain.

Have you been waiting in the wrong check-out line of life? Does what the world have to offer keep coming up short?

Are you wondering if heaven’s deal is for real? My friend, it is. Christ paid a great price for me and for you. Want to know more? Send me an email and we’ll chat. karentfriday@gmail.com

Karen, I loved this and can identify! When this happens to me, (and it does quite often) I sheepishly ask my Papa God to forgive me for being so busy, and to make me more aware at places like Wallyworld and any other place! I can be so “fixated” on what “I” need that I look past the needs of others! 😞 I needed to read this today! I hope you and Mike have a woderful Happy New Year!

Beth, thank you for commenting. Glad to hear I’m not alone. 🙂 What’s amazing is how many times the Lord gives me opportunities to talk to people about Him. I pray I’ll increase my awareness to see others and love them as He does. Grateful this best deal doesn’t require coupon clipping or saving. The price and value can’t be matched! Woohoo! Happy New Year to you, Kevin and family!
