God Deserves the Glory: Mike’s Home

God deserves the glory. All of it. And always.
I’m sharing wonderful news and updates about Mike since the last time I posted.
Mike continued to do so well after open-heart surgery to place the LVAD heart pump, he soon moved to the step-down cardiac floor.
Praise the Lord! He finally moved out of ICU after nearly 5 weeks.
Over the last week and a half, they have removed chest tubes, staples, and stitches. And we’re thankful his kidneys remarkably improved so much that they removed the dialysis line from his neck.
This is another praise how he avoided dialysis. Especially since the possibility of dialysis followed him on this journey after his heart attack when the kidneys first took a hit.
Oh, but there’s more, so much more the Lord has done. And God deserves the glory.
Our family’s grateful Mike’s recovery has made leaps and bounds. So, to our excitement and joy, Mike went home this week. Yay!
After 6 weeks in the hospital and most of it in ICU, my husband's home. God deserves the glory. All of it. And always. Share on XBut before discharge we completed a 4-hour education on the heart pump care including dressing changes and equipment details. And we discovered what’s considered emergent when we need to call the clinic.
Now, the journey for recovery continues with family caregiving, home and outpatient therapy, and traveling to clinic appointments 4 hours away. These will be once a week for at least 2 weeks and maybe for the first month. Then traveling to the clinic once a month until it spreads out a little more.
But we couldn’t be happier to be home. We give God all the glory for:
Outpouring His love and mercy on us daily
Whether life is going along without a hitch or the days and nights turn hard and weary. God continues to pour His love and mercy over us every single day. God deserves the glory.
Whether life is going along without a hitch or the days and nights turn hard and weary. God continues to pour His love and mercy over us every single day. God deserves the glory. Share on XThe miracles we’ve experienced.

It’s a miracle Mike drove to the ER and walked in with his widow-maker, LAD artery nearly completely blocked. He survived the first major procedure for a temporary heart pump that kept him alive—along with God—for 4 weeks until open-heart surgery. And the miracles along the way of his recovery.
Answered prayers: God deserves the glory
So many of you stood with us in prayer, asking the Almighty to be with Mike and us, for his procedures, for the medical team, and for the miracles we experienced first hand. God deserves the glory.
Please continue to pray for Mike’s full recovery, 6 months total after surgery.
His strength in our weakness
Staying strong in our own power never works out. But God.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

His wisdom and Word guiding us: God deserves the glory
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
“Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” Psalm 25:5 (ESV)
So thankful for the Lord’s Word that guides us through life’s valleys and mountain tops. Faithful and true guidance we need every day.
God deserves the glory

So while we spent Thanksgiving, my birthday, Christmas, and our sweet pug Winston’s 2nd birthday at the hospital and away from home, I’m so grateful for the gift of life.
Happy New Year everyone! So thankful for this community rallying around our family to pray and support us on this journey. It means the world.

Good Morning! I came upon your story this morning. God is so good! I was really encouraged reading your story of God’s faithfulness, grace, and strength. I am an open heart surgery nurse who assists with Impella insertion, LVAD’s, and all manner of open heart procedures ! We don’t always get to hear the stories with good outcomes so this is truly a blessing to read!
