God is Higher and Stronger Than Anything I Face

God is higher and stronger than anything I face.
Yet, I still struggle with this truth—and it is the truth.
Because when facing huge obstacles, hard circumstances, great loss, and even spiritual warfare, I sometimes falter.
I remember when my kids were young, now my young grandchildren, and how they rely on their parents and adults to help them face anything. Perhaps moving and going to a new school, making friends, or a medical trauma.
Likewise, I need reminding how my heavenly Father is higher and stronger in the difficult things I face.
God is Higher: Than Anything I Face
God is higher than people, things, other gods, the enemy, circumstances, and me. Why? Because He is holy. He’s the one true God. The Almighty. God is the only one who saves us.
He is high and lifted up. And the train of His robe fills the temple (Isaiah 6:1).
“God is holy means there is no trace of evil in his character. Only God is holy.” (The Blue Letter Bible)
Exodus 15:11 reiterates it, “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” (ESV)
No created being or false god can take on God’s identity. The Great One. The Most High. The Lord remains unequaled in name and in who He is. God Almighty is matchless!
So, look up!
“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 40:26 (NIV)
“Because when we see higher, we get a higher perspective.” (Kelly Balarie, Rest Now)
We look up to see how God is higher and we look up and see His holiness and faithfulness.

Our job is to trust God’s power, ways, and purposes. And God’s job is everything else. He does the heavy lifting.
So when we trust in God’s direction, we also trust in His strength for the journey.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10b (ESV)
Even our weakness points us to a higher and stronger power—God.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)
God is stronger. God is able.
Anything I Face
“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a (NASB, 1995)
This verse is special to me because it’s been my life verse since college.
God gives us the ability to live knowing whatever happens, He is with us, loves us, sustains us, and brings us to a place of hope. And He wants our whole heart.
No matter what happens tomorrow, we trust God is sovereign, trustworthy, good, and on His throne.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (ESV)
He’s the God who cares for us when we lose our way and think no one cares. The Lord always knows where we came from and where we’re going.
And God is the ultimate promise-keeper.
“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19 (NIV)
There’s a huge difference between claiming I rub shoulders with the Almighty and leaning on His “everlasting arms.” So am I leaning on His higher ways, on His strength, on Him?

Yes, our loving Father knows all of our comings and goings, and He will always keep His promises to take care of His children. We can always lean on His strong and unfailing arms. Blessings, Karen!
True, Martha, I want to lean on His everlasting arms and trust His promises and ways. God bless!
What a timely message! I’m dealing with some health issues that are troublesome. Testing including MRIs and other scans. However, God is higher and stronger than anything I am facing. Thank you for your words. Have a blessed day!
Glad this resonated with you, Melissa. Just read about your back issues. Praying over you for healing and answers, dear friend. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (ESV)
By the grace of God (through Christ) Truth. So Essentially, Poignantly, and Adeptly Real…Yes and Amen.
God bless, Daniel. “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a (NASB, 1995)
I daily trust my cares and worries to my Heavenly Father because I know He has the best for me. Thank you Karen, a beautiful message.
Well said, Yvonne. That’s it in a nutshell. Our job is to trust God’s power, ways, and purposes. And God’s job is everything else. He does the heavy lifting.
Karen, we know this to be true and yet … we falter at times. This is such a good reminder. We should never lose hope for God is stronger than anything we face and is able to do all things.
He is able, Joanne. We look up to see how God is higher and we look up and see His holiness and faithfulness.
Karen, I needed this reminder. God is greater than anything we face. We know it. We believe it. But when trials plague us, we must remind ourselves to look to God, who is greater. God bless you!
Melissa, our hearts do need this reminder and often. He is high and lifted up. And the train of His robe fills the temple (Isaiah 6:1). Blessings!
Amen to this, Karen. It’s true — sometimes when we face scary struggles, it’s hard to remember God is greater than even this. But oh, He is! And He holds us close, now and always.
I like how you noted in the middle of something, God holds us close. That brings so much comfort and peace! God bless!

Hi Karen … thank you for these reminders. I’ve been standing on God’s promises in the last 2 years more than ever for my health. Last year- diagnosed with thyroid cancer. God did many things to help me. This year- breast cancer (still can’t believe it) going through radiation now- I have 3 treatments left. THANK GOD these were found in early stages. He sends ppl in our life to help (angels I call them) He calms me like no other and gives me courage. I enjoy your blog and YouTube travels. We live in Texas – hope to meet some day as we hope to travel in the future. Be blessed 💕
