7 Christmas Gifts We Need Most

7 Christmas Gifts We Need Most

What gifts do you need most this Christmas?

Maybe we really need some items, but want other things.

When we think of Christmastime, our thoughts ponder what to buy the family member who has everything. Or, the person who is particular in their taste.

Perhaps we wonder what treasures lay under the tree for us.

So imagine someone asks you to make a list of the top presents money cannot buy, but you enjoy receiving and need most.

Because these gifts are intangible, yet they gift us with the most important and glorious things in life.

Let’s look at 7 priceless gifts we need most.

(1.)  Peace: Gifts We Need Most

Peace isn’t a commodity we purchase, but Jesus purchased peace for us on the cross.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” Colossians 1:19-20 (ESV)

(2.)  Love

We come into this world needing love. And the Lord is not only the author of true love, He’s the lover of our soul.

“How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!” Psalm 36:7a (NIV)

“By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life” Psalm 42:8 (NIV)

(3.)  Goodness: Gifts We Need Most

Have you ever wondered if there was anything good in the world? Any goodness out there somewhere?

Since the beginning, God called what He made, Good. This includes us. So thankful we serve a good, good Father.

7 Christmas Gifts We Need Most

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Psalm 23:6a (ESV)

“Now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” 1 Peter 2:3b (NIV)

(4.)  Mercy

Mercy is another gift we desperately need most.

“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5 (ESV)

“Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:10 (ESV)

Thank you, Lord, for your gift of mercy!

(5.)  Hope: Gifts We Need Most

Every person in the world searches for hope at some point in life. Yet, hope the world offers eventually fizzles and fades away. But real and lasting hope only comes through the Lord.

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.” Psalm 62:5 (ESV)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13 (ESV)

Real Hope is found in Bethlehem’s stable, at Calvary’s cross, and in an empty tomb. It’s found in none other than Jesus Christ.

(6.)  Grace

We speak about gracious people and giving grace to others. But grace started with God.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 (ESV)

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

Oh the indescribable gift of grace!

(7.)  Eternal Life: Gifts We Need Most

The number one intangible thing our soul needs most? Eternal life.

“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (ESV)

Yvonne Morgan says:

What a great list of Christmas gifts that we all need. How much better our world would be if we all gave and shared these kind of gifts with each other. Perfect message Karen.

Karen says:

It would be a better world, Yvonne. To recieve and give these gifts not found under our tree, but that we possess if we know Jesus.

The only gifts that truly matter are the ones you’ve listed here, Karen. May everyone look to God through Jesus and believe.
Blessings!
(I have to do some catching up with Fridays Forever – I will soon!)

Karen says:

Hey Martha, we certainly appreciate your watching our YouTube channel. Thankful for God’s gift of mercy. “Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:10 (ESV)

David says:

Overcome evil with good and don’t get carried away Live like a head and not a tail in life, God calls us His sons, we are represented to God on earth co-governors, you were called to rule over your life, your family, illness, addictions, etc.. God wants us to worship him in Spirit and truth to praise God and when it is difficult for you or when you are sick, praise God that he does not leave your mouth always thinking about the Word of God so that he you fulfill in your life. Fight the good fight of faith don’t live on this earth by natural senses, don’t think in natural parameters, change your thinking renew your thinking and senses with God’s heavenly ones.

Karen says:

Yes, David, may we walk in Christ, be doers of the Word, have the mind of Christ, adn set our minds on things above, not on things of the earth.

Amen. We have gifts from God that we can share with others. When we share our gifts, we can bring people closer to Him. Have a blessed day! 🙂

Karen says:

Melissa, I like your reminder to share God’s greatest gifts with others. God bless!

J.D. Wininger says:

Amen ma’am. All we really need is found in one stop, isn’t it? A trip to the foot of His cross. God’s blessings, and Merry CHRISTmas my sweet friend.

Karen says:

I like how you said one stop and a trip to the foot of the cross. Yes, that’s where we find what we need most! “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Psalm 23:6a (ESV) God bless.

Love this Karen! Thank you for pointing us to the REAL gifts from God that are eternal and never fade. This one jumped out to me today: “Have you ever wondered if there was anything good in the world? Any goodness out there somewhere? Since the beginning, God called what He made, Good. This includes us. So thankful we serve a good, good Father.” What a blessing! Lately, I feel like I see so much darkness in the world. I can get my eyes focused there instead of on the goodness of God, His creation, His Son, and Yes- even us! What a good, good Father. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Karen says:

Hey, Melissa. Grateful for these intangebile gifts we can grab ahold of when we know Jesus in a personal way as Savior, Lord, and lover of our souls. God bless. May we never take His goodness for granite but see it every day in our lives.

Jessica Brodie says:

I love this! You’re so right that each gift we need most is only found in Jesus. Amen!!

Karen says:

Thank you, Jessica. “How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!” Psalm 36:7a (NIV)

Karen says:

Karen says:

Karen says:

God bless, Nancy! “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)
