A Living Hope in Resurrection Power

A Living Hope in Resurrection Power

At some point in life, everyone searches for hope. And while the world offers many forms, they all fizzle and fade away. So what if there’s a living hope available to anyone willing to find it? God set the stage to bring a living hope to a hopeless people through resurrection power.

Peeking through the curtain, I scanned the audience and hoped my entire family showed up. I’d landed my first high-school role in the broadway musical, South Pacific.

Thankfully, my character as the island girl, Liat, called for a few speaking parts and no singing—not my strong suit. With sweaty palms and a rush of adrenaline, I checked the seats again. And if my people show up, would I make them proud when I took my final bow?

From side stage during the first scene, my gaze spotted them through the blinding light.

All my loved ones occupied the entire third row. They’re here, now break a leg.

Hope in Resurrection Power

I found my groove and remembered my few lines with no blunders. But my glory days as an actress ended soon after.

History also recounts a glory day when hope showed up. Over 2000 years ago, God set the stage for a story of hope to unfold.

The birth of the Christ-child took place in a lowly stable where animals occupied the front-row seats.

Jesus grew and carried out the heavenly Father’s will. The supernatural happened in His presence. He served the community and reached out to wanderers, outcasts, and the wayward lost without hope.

Jesus’ life, center stage, pointed the glory and applause to God alone.

The Tomb Where Hope Rose

Yet, an enemy, Satan, plotted to destroy God’s plans to bring hope to a hopeless people. Still, the Savior died on a cross for the sins of the world…my sins.

Jesus spilled His blood for me. Then His broken body lay in a borrowed tomb. But the enemy and Jesus’ accusers barely celebrated before Christ’s followers began rejoicing.

Come and see! He is risen, just as He said! (Matthew 28)

Hallelujah! Hopeless never gets the last word. Hope rose from the dead when Jesus Christ conquered the grave. It’s resurrection power.

A Living Hope in Resurrection Power

Jesus fulfilled the expectation of eternity and heaven. He provided a way for us to become children of God and gain eternal life.

The resurrection—the day God sent a living hope. Hope unveiled in amazing grace. The spotlight on God’s mercy freeing us from sin and shame.

Whatever life throws at me, I remember the tomb is empty.

“And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come see the place where he lay.’” Matthew 28:2, 5-6 (ESV)

Victory in Resurrection Power

When we accept God’s salvation, it transforms us to over-comers—more than conquerors—and raises us to new life and new hope in the name of Jesus.

Hope in Jesus trumps all other forms of hope.

You see, the world’s hope lacks fanfare moments of glory—booed off stage with a less than desirable performance. And it leaves us in the dark when the last light dims.

Jesus Christ played the leading role in God’s story of hope. So He stands solo as the Holy King at hope’s curtain call. And His glory deserves the applause of angels and saints.

God’s Invitation

God desires to make a grand entrance in our life with show-stopping miracles of hope. And Jesus is saving us front-row seats.

Accept God’s invitation to the curtain call where our ordinary life becomes extraordinary with Jesus taking a bow.

A Resurrection Power Prayer:

A Living Hope in Resurrection Power

God, I place my faith and trust in You. Thank You for hope in Your resurrection power and glory. Your hope trumps all other hope. Whatever life throws at me, I remember the tomb is empty. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Christ is our only hope. When life seems dark, the Light is always present. Happy Easter, Karen. God bless!

Karen says:

Yes, Nancy! Jesus is the only sure hope to cling to in the darkness. Thankful for a living hope. God bless!

I love how you set the hope of Jesus’ resurrection story on a stage. The imagery is comprehensive. And I especially like this simple yet profound statement: “Whatever life throws at me, I remember the tomb is empty.” I want to remember that as I go through life. Thank you for this celebration of eternal hope and the resurrection of Jesus.

Karen says:

Thank you, Stephen. That statement reminds me that what has eternal value matters most in life. It’s hard to remember that sometimes on this earth. I pray we focus on new life and new hope in the name of Jesus. God bless!

This message brought me to sing, “What Wondrous Love”. As I was reading your words, the song started playing in my mind. Yes, Christ is our hope. Amen. Have a blessed day!

Karen says:

Melissa, I remember that song! The cross and resurrection point to hope and the wondrous, ending love of God the Father. God bless!

Yvonne Morgan says:

We can’t say it enough, Christ is our only hope in this world. Thank you Karen. Happy Easter

Karen says:

People are looking for real hope. And real hope is only found in Jesus through resurrection power. God bless, Yvonne!

David says:

Father God, I know it is normal for us to sometimes find ourselves in a pit of fear and discouragement. But we don’t have to stay there. Today, we’re choosing to fix our eyes on You. And we’re remembering that each thing we verbalize our thankfulness for is like a stepping stone out of the pit we’ve been in. Thank You for providing Your timeless truths that prove to us over and over again how powerfully capable You always are. With You by our side, we have no need to fear. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Karen says:

Amen, David, let’s fix our eyes on the author and perfector of our faith. This too, is resurrection power. God bless!

Jessica Brodie says:

Beautifully said. Christ truly is our only hope, the source of all our faith!

Karen says:

Hope has a name, it’s Jesus! A thousand Hallelujahs!

I loved the analogy, Karen! I had a few similar acting experiences in high school. Short lived with a fan club that consisted of my relatives. But imagine the fanfare of heaven! Jesus will capture our hearts forever! No matter what happens here, we have hope for the future. The best is yet to come! Blessed Resurrection Sunday!

Karen says:

Amen, Melissa. The fanfare of heaven is glory upoon glory upon glory. I’m so grateful that hopeless never gets the last word. Hope rose from the dead when Jesus Christ conquered the grave. It’s resurrection power.

J.D. Wininger says:

Yes ma’am. Christ is our hope, isn’t He? I think back to all my hopes and dreams as a young man, and I can see that all those answers came from Him. When He saved me, my hope was infused through Him. Such an encouraging post ma’am. Thank you!

Karen says:

Hope has a name, it’s Jesus! Our one sure hope in the darkness!
