Christ is with you and for you and in you

Christ is with you and for you and in you

Do you believe Christ is with you and for you and in you?

These are promises in God’s Word.

But if I’m honest, there are times that believing any one of them is not easy for me. Like when hardships and difficult situations come my way.

And I’ve learned it is not “if” but “when” life turns topsy-turvy without any warning.

Still, these promises never change and always remain true.

So let’s look at what the Bible says.

Christ is with you.

Even though it’s not easy to admit out loud, sometimes it doesn’t seem like Christ is really with me. I may feel alone when I’m by myself or when loved ones are around.

Friend, this is a lie from the enemy of our souls. Because we belong to Christ.

The Lord promises He is with us. And it all started with prophecy that the virgin would bear a child, Immanuel, which means “God is with us.” (Isaiah 7:14)

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (ESV)

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:1b-2 (ESV)

And at the great commission, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20b (ESV)

Christ is for you.

Although we may face insurmountable obstacles, we rest assured that the Lord is for us.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

Christ is with you and for you and in you

Paul said this in the midst of suffering and persecution:

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39 (ESV)

“Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me.” Psalm 56:9 (ESV)

“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 (ESV)

The Lord is in you.

Jesus was praying to the Father to make us one as He and the Father are one:

I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” John 17:23 (ESV)

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 (ESV)

Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27b (ESV)

Christ dwells in our hearts by faith (Eph. 3:17), we are crucified with Christ so that He lives in us (Gal. 2:20), and He abides in us through the Spirit He has given us so that if we abide in Him, we keep His commandments (1 Jn. 3:24).

Prayer: Father, thank You for sending Christ into the world. Remind my heart daily that Christ is with me and for me and in me. When I feel alone, help me trust Christ is with me. If life is hard, help me remember Christ is for me, fighting for my good and His glory. Give me the strength to live the crucified life as Christ abides in me. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Father, When I feel alone, help me trust Christ is with me. If life is hard, help me remember Christ is for me, fighting for my good and His glory. And He lives in me. In Jesus' name. Amen Click To Tweet

When times are tough, it’s easy to fall for the lies that tell us God has abandoned us. I quickly remember that this is not true! The Lord is always with us, for us and in us.
Blessings, Karen, and thanks for this wonderful reminder today!

Karen says:

The enemy is ever so crafty and cunning to convince us of these lies. But our God would never abandon us! A thousand Hallelujahs! “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)

Yes, I believe God is with me always. On the days or times I don’t feel His presence those are the days I pray more because it is usually me that has moved away from Him. Great encouragement Karen. Thank you.

Karen says:

Thanks, Yvonne. I hear you, we tend to move away from God, when we need Him closer than every. Lord, we need you, thank you for always being with us.

J.D. Wininger says:

I think, because I’m older and learned to rely upon God’s guidance, I feel Him move even closer when I find myself in spiritual battle. That has only happened as He has always proven Himself to me. God is God and He is faithful. Oh, how I need Him this week.

Karen says:

It’s amazing God moves closer during the times we need Him nearer. And yet, He is always with us. “For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 (ESV)

Amen. Christ is in us. We are His. I am comforted knowing that I am a child of God. 🙂

Karen says:

So am I, Melissa. Christ with us and for us and in us. It can’t get any better than that! God bless!

Jessica Brodie says:

I love knowing that God is IN ME. He’s with me, he cares for me, and there’s no place I can escape even if I wanted to! “…for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 (ESV) AMEN!

Karen says:

Right!? How unfathomable that the Almighty God would choose to live inside of us. “I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” John 17:23 (ESV)

David says:

Dying to ourselves can be perceived as a bad thing. Most people want to exalt themselves, applaud and promote themselves.

But in the kingdom of God, dying to self is essential.

“I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life that I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 NTR

A piece of clay cannot become a work of art unless it is molded into something else. A can of paint cannot be used for a masterpiece unless it is first poured. A deposit of carbon must change to become a diamond. A caterpillar must give up its old way of life to become a magnificent butterfly.

The invitation to die is actually an invitation to live.

When we give our lives to God, we choose to surrender our plans, desires, and gifts. And that can be difficult. But we also know that there is something better—and a better Someone—on the other side.

God can realign our plans, reshape our desires, and reorient our gifts for His glory.

The apostle Paul, the author of Galatians, knew the power of Christ to change lives. The power of Christ radically transformed Paul from someone who persecuted believers into a passionate follower of Jesus.

Because of that experience, Paul knew that the only way to live was to entrust every area of his life to Christ. And so he invites us to do the same.

Jesus could not have risen without first being crucified, and the same is true for us.

Karen says:

Yes, culture says get ahead, get on top, and step on whoever you need to for a climb up the corporate ladder or any ladder the world deems important. But God’s kingdom is about humility where the first shall be last and the last first. Galations 2:20 is one of my favorite verses. Christ dwells in our hearts by faith (Eph. 3:17), we are crucified with Christ so that He lives in us (Gal. 2:20), and He abides in us through the Spirit He has given us so that if we abide in Him, we keep His commandments (1 Jn. 3:24).

Thank you for this wonderful reminder, Karen! Those are verses I need to read and reread daily! Somehow, when we go through difficult seasons, it is easy to feel forgotten by God. But when we remember Jesus went to the cross and back for us, He has already won eternal blessings that are unshakable. Hallelujah! God bless you!

Karen says:

Oh, yes, He has already won an unshakable kingdom. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:1b-2 (ESV)

Joanne Viola says:

“Although we may face insurmountable obstacles, we rest assured that the Lord is for us.” The older I get, the more I realize that the Lord is with me, for me, has gone before me, and is behind me. It sure has make the obstacles easier, knowing I need not navigate them alone.

Karen says:

Hey Joanne, it is better knowing we are not alone in this journey. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)

Donna says:

Such a good post, Karen! Great encouragement for those hard paths. No matter how much we “know” these things, at times we need a little help finding rest in them! Thank you!

Karen says:

So true, Donna. It’s powerful to remind our heart how Christ is WITH us and FOR us and IN us. Hallelujah!
