Looking for Something? Hope? Peace? Or?

Looking for Something? Hope? Peace? Or?Looking for something?

Because we look for things everyday.

When our husband questions the whereabouts of black dress socks or a t-shirt (hopefully not to wear together).

Or our teen wonders where the car keys are.

We try to locate our cell phone.

Maybe it’s the pen we need to jot down an important note.

Perhaps our toddler misplaces her favorite toy (this makes for a traumatic day).

And the needed spice for dinner’s main dish is somewhere in this kitchen.

But not only are we in need of tangible stuff to function in our daily routine. Our souls look for the intangible items that make life full and meaningful.

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16

(Scripture NLT)

Looking for Mercy?

“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5

“Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:10

“Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.” Psalm 103:4

(Scripture ESV)

Looking for Love?

“How precious is your constant love, O God!” Psalm 36:7a

“Yet day by day the Lord also pours out his steadfast love upon me.” Psalm 42:8a

“Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord! How good you are! Your love for us continues on forever.” Psalm 106:1

Yvonne Morgan says:

Jesus is the answer to everything we look for in life. I loved the simplicity of that idea that is so often lost in the crazy, busy world. You have a wonderful gift with words. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Karen says:

Thank you, Yvonne. Yes, the enemy often deceives others and even us about what we really need…what we are really looking for to have a meaningful live. Glad to know the One who offers it ALL when we need it.

A great resource list of the promises of God! Such a useful post for encouragement, Karen! Have a blessed day!

Karen says:

Blessings to you, Melinda. Jesus. Is. The. Answer. Appreciate your comment.

What a wonderful list of what God provides. I’m bookmarking this, printing it, memorizing it (well…memorizing some:). Thank you!

Karen says:

It is wonderful and almost overwhelming to think the answer is always the same: Hope? Jesus. Peace? Jesus. Grace? Jesus. Mercy? Jesus. Love? Jesus. Goodness? Jesus. Freedom? Jesus. Eternal life? Jesus. Thanks for commenting, Stephanie.

Donna Miller says:

Karen says:

Yay, Donna! I’m so glad and love it when the Lord does that…puts a needed thought or verse in our path when we need it. Praying your post is God-inspired.

Hi Karen!

Agree, we all look for a meaningful life. Thank you for sharing these encouraging thoughts on hope, peace, grace, and mercy + the other Biblical concepts.

Yes, Jesus is the answer. You are an example of how He can influence our lives.

Have a good one . . .

Edna Davidsen

Karen says:

Hey Edna, appreciate your thoughts. This Scripture sums up the desire for a meaningful life: “I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13 (AMP) We surely would despair had we not believed. Blessings! 🙂

I think the verses on Hope spoke to me the most today. Heaven knows the world we live in could use more hope! Thanks for the reminder. Bless you!

Karen says:

Lisa, we all could use more hope. So thankful to know the true hope-giver. Praying and speaking this over you, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

Amen. Jesus is the only true answer. Hope is found in Him. Thank you for this great message.

Karen says:

Jesus is the answer…for the world today…for me and you. Appreciate the comment, Melissa.

Thank you for the encouraging words! Reading these scriptures all at one time is food for the weary soul. What a great lift you gave me and the many others who have read this post! Great content, Karen! 🙂

Karen says:

God’s Word does lift our souls, doesn’t it? So thankful for promises of all the things our souls need most in life. Thanks, Marcie!

A wonderful something-for-everyone post–and one that we can come back to as situations warrant. Love it!

Karen says:

Thank you, Nancy. Jesus owns it all and gives it all. 🙂

Alynda Long says:

Amen, my friend! AMEN! He really is the answer to all of it, isn’t He? Thank you for the sweet reminder!

Karen says:

He really is, Alynda. Sometimes when we are looking for fulfillment deep in our souls, we forget there’s only One who satisfies each longing. Jesus is His name. Thanks for commenting.

I love this! Thank you for posting so many scriptures. Great reminder that God is always with us.

Karen says:

Thank you, Adrienne. How powerful it is to realize that what matters most in life is found in Christ alone.

You’ve zeroed in here on two of my least favorite words as a mum: “Where’s my . . .??”
It’s good to be reminded that the most important things we search for can be found in one place alone!

Karen says:

Me too, Michele. It can become unnerving to hear those words. But when we celebrate finding the greatest things in Jesus christ, we’re so glad we were looking. Thank you!

Beautiful! We often forget to feed the longings of our souls. The scriptures you provided definitely point us in the right direction!

Karen says:

Thank you, Matthea. Anything else out there just doesn’t come up to par with what God offers us.

What a wonderful reminder, Karen! I’ve been catching myself trying to put my hope in happy circumstances, but this was a great reminder that our hope is in Jesus Christ with us, even when circumstances are not what we would choose! Thanks for this good Word today!

Karen says:

That’s a great way to put it, Stacey, putting our hope in happy circumstances. But we know those come with shaky foundations. Thank you!

Kristi Woods says:

There’s nothing like the answer of His Word. <3

Karen says:

Yes! Whatever we’re looking for, Kristi, is found in the pages of God’s Word and in Christ.

Deb Wolf says:

Amen, Karen! What an encouraging word. Whatever we’ve misplaced, long for, or need; whatever is missing … Jesus is the answer! Thanks for this blessing today!
