No Matter What: 5 Promises for Life in Christ

No Matter What: 5 Promises for Life in ChristNo matter what.

I admit the phrase used to bother me. Because it stirred questions in my soul.

Such as, “no matter what” means what exactly? Maybe to never back down. Or, never give up or give in. Perhaps, to keep going in the face of opposition or dire circumstances.

And I assumed the subject and context both played into the meaning.

Still, if you are anything like me, the phrase conjures up a lot of unknowns. And even a few knowns we’d rather not deal with.

So I put together a list of God’s truths and promises in five areas.

I searched for the exact phrase in Scripture and found it in The Living Bible Translation. Some of my favorite Scriptures translated with such powerful words. Because…

Some things matter...some things matter most. #JesusChrist #Christianity Click To Tweet

 No Matter What

(1.) No matter what today brings. Trust in God’s strength and love.

“Patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady. Then, when that happens, we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love” Romans 5:4-5.

(2.) No matter what tomorrow holds. Claim God’s promises and praise His name.

“I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace” Psalm 34:1.

(3.) No matter what sickness lies in our body or injuries pierce our soul. Seek healing from Jesus.

“As the sun went down that evening, all the villagers who had any sick people in their homes, no matter what their diseases were, brought them to Jesus; and the touch of his hands healed every one!” Luke 4:40.

No Matter What: 5 Promises for Life in ChristWhat Matters

(4.) No matter what accolades we receive or our earthly status. Bask in the light of Jesus’ glory.

“In this new life one’s nationality or race or education or social position is unimportant; such things mean nothing. Whether a person has Christ is what matters, and he is equally available to all” Colossians 3:11.

(5.) No matter what we do in life or for God’s kingdom. Live in a manner worthy of His calling.

“Asking that the way you live will always please the Lord and honor him, so that you will always be doing good, kind things for others, while all the time you are learning to know God better and better. We are praying, too, that you will be filled with his mighty, glorious strength so that you can keep going no matter what happens—always full of the joy of the Lord” Colossians 1:10-11.

What Matters Most

The bottom line for Christians is our subject and context. Jesus = our subject. Eternal = our context. #Jesus #eternal Click To Tweet

So, in the end, it boils down to life in Christ now and life in heaven later. Anything of eternal significance and our witness in Christ trumps things of lesser value.

Why never back down? Jesus.

Why never give up or give in? Jesus.

How to keep going in the face of opposition or dire circumstances? Jesus.

What matters most? Jesus.

And why no matter what? Jesus.

Why we never back down, give in or give up, and keep going in the face of opposition and dire circumstances. Jesus. #JesusChrist #blog Click To Tweet

Wow. I LOVE this! Especially the one about no matter what tomorrow brings, claim God’s promises. Pinning this so I can come back to it often. Visiting from #HeartEncouragement. 🙂

Karen says:

Awe, thanks so much, Emily. Appreciate your visit today. And I love that one too. “I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace” Psalm 34:1.

There’s no better comfort than to know: No matter what, God will never leave us and His promises prevail! Love this hope-filled post, my friend.

Karen says:

That’s a powerful thought and hope, Beckie. No matter what, there’s always hope…in Christ. Thanks!

When we say “no matter what” we mirror God’s “Unstopping, Unbreaking, Never giving up, Always and Forever love.” (I love the Jesus Storybook Bible!)
So thankful that He has committed Himself to my growth, even though my progress is, at times, disappointing.

Karen says:

Yes, Michele! Me too! What matters most? Jesus! Thanks for stopping by!

Liz says:

Such a powerful post! Need this truth every single day! Blessings!

Karen says:

Thanks, Liz.

Why never back down? Jesus.

Why never give up or give in? Jesus.

How to keep going in the face of opposition or dire circumstances? Jesus.

What matters most? Jesus.

And why no matter what? Jesus.

Yvonne says:

“no matter what, there’s hope in Christ.” A powerful message that all the world needs to hear.

Karen says:

Yes, unwavering hope in an unstable world. An anchor for our souls…no matter what.

Lynn says:

Yes, no matter what–Jesus. This reminds me of a friend’s comment about prayer recently. Sometimes our prayer is just ‘help, Jesus.’ And that is perfectly fine! No other words needed.

Karen says:

I like that, Lynn. Sometimes we just call on the name of Jesus during no-matter-what moments. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing those posts from The Living Bible! Reading familiar passages phrased in a way I haven’t read since the 1970s was a great blessing! I’m encouraged no matter what!

Karen says:

I know, Melinda. Right?! Loved the wording of these powerful Scriptures. The bottom line for Christians is our subject and context. Jesus = our subject. Eternal = our context. Hallelujah!

Very encouraging post. I love how you found the phrase, “no matter what” in the scripture passages. The answer to these questions are good to remember when the temptation to throw in the towel comes:

Why never back down? Jesus.
Why never give up or give in? Jesus.
How to keep going in the face of opposition or dire circumstances? Jesus.
What matters most? Jesus.
And why no matter what? Jesus.

Simple but powerful!

Karen says:

Marcie, thanks for your kinds words. And true, simple and powerful. Sometimes we make spiritual things harder than they were ever meant to be. 😉 The best part is how God gives us the strength to live them out. His power in us. In the end, it boils down to life in Christ now and life in heaven later. Anything of eternal significance and our witness in Christ trumps things of lesser value.

Karen, this is such a great message. I want to live everyday knowing that “no matter what”, I am blessed by God and He loves me.

Karen says:

Me too, Melissa. To walk in the truth of God’s no-matter-what promises. Because…“In this new life one’s nationality or race or education or social position is unimportant; such things mean nothing. Whether a person has Christ is what matters, and he is equally available to all” Colossians 3:11. (TLB) Thanks!

Bailey Hurley says:

These are great! I have been struggling with anxiety and have been repeating similar truths to myself. I love how much you use God’s Word in your everyday thoughts, words and plans.

Karen says:

Hey Bailey. Sorry to hear about your struggle. I have been there before. Yes, God’s Word and promises ring true in the midst of darkness, any struggle, bringing peace. Prayers for you, my sister in Christ. 🙂

Brittany says:

What a beautiful way to remember “no matter what.” God’s promises always keep us going in the midst of everything we can possibly encounter. Life happens. Jesus makes sure we can endure now AND later. Thanks so much for this.

Karen says:

Thank you, Brittany. Yes, His promises sustain us in all of life’s ups and downs. (TLB)

Sydell says:

This is awesome! I love it Karen. You spoke God’s Truth and reminding us no matter what God is faithful and He never breaks His promises. No matter what we go through God will never leave us. He is our warrior and fights for us. Thank you sweet friend for sharing this message of Hope.
Blessings to you sister.

Karen says:

That’s right, Sydell. God never breaks a promise…He’s the ultimate promise-keeper and is always cheering us on and with us no matter what we walk through. Because no matter what today holds or tomorrow brings, we can trust in His love and care and believe His promises will come to pass. Thanks for commenting!

Gwen says:

Well said, Karen! No matter what – Jesus. Great message.

Karen says:

Thank you, Gwen. Yes…Jesus is our no-matter-what rock! “We are praying, too, that you will be filled with his mighty, glorious strength so that you can keep going no matter what happens—always full of the joy of the Lord” Colossians 1:11, TLB.

KellyRBaker says:

No matter what! That makes for some great declarations! Have a blessed day, Karen! 🙂

Karen says:

Thanks, Kelly. Yes, no matter what today brings or tomorrow holds…we trust in Jesus.

Marsha says:

Yes! Jesus and His message matters most. I love the break down and helping us keep our focus on Jesus.

Karen says:

Marsha, thanks. I appreciate your input. No matter what…Jesus. Because Christ matters most. 🙂

Karen says:

Thanks so much, Sarah. In the end, it boils down to life in Christ now and life in heaven later. Anything of eternal significance and our witness in Christ trumps things of lesser value.
