Thought for Today and Every Day: Jesus Saves

Thought for Today and Every Day: Jesus Saves, Photo by Lili Kovac on Unsplash

Popular hashtags on social media showcase a thought for the day or thoughts for a specific day of the week:

#ThoughtOfTheDay

#ThoughtForTheDay

#TuesdayThoughts

Furthermore, people often use hashtags for wisdom and motivation alongside the above examples like:

#MondayMotivation

#WednesdayWisdom

Although I realized these hashtags let others know the information shared in a particular post as an important and sometimes personal thought. Still, a spiritual truth occurred to me.

The most unsurpassed and unmatched and incomparable thought I share with others today or any day remains:

#JesusSaves

Since Isaiah 55:8 says God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts, He provides the wisdom for salvation and the spiritual motivation we need to live the Christian life.

Unsurpassed Thought

First, Google explains Unsurpassed as “Better than any other.”

Next, God’s better-than-any-other thought sent Jesus with a purpose. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

And Romans describes every person’s condition and need for saving; how Jesus saves us, and the unsurpassed salvation of Christ.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Unmatched Thought

So unmatched defined by Merriam-Webster means “No equal or rival.”

Still, no equal or rival exists for Jesus or His saving power.

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Incomparable Thought

Last, Cambridge dictionary depicts incomparable as “So good or great that nothing else could achieve the same standard.”

And no thought from any other religion or god compares to what Jesus achieved for us on the cross.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:16-17)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Finally, do you know this unsurpassed, unmatched, and incomparable Savior and His salvation? If not, or you’re not sure, here’s a prayer.

Salvation prayer:

God, I’m a sinner in need of a Savior. Please forgive me for my sins. I believe Jesus Christ died to give me eternal life. Thank You for Your mercy and grace, and for the gift salvation. I accept Jesus as Lord and invite Him to live and reign in my heart and life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thanks for commenting Kristi Ann!

JESUS SAVES!

Karen, this is so simple, yet so powerful! How easily we get caught up in the little things like hashtags without zeroing in on the main thing, namely Jesus Saves. Wow. Thank you for putting this together and for the way you assembled your Tweets. Sharing the gospel tweet by tweet. Love this, my sister! May the Holy Spirit continue to use you mightily to draw many to Jesus!

Karen says:

Thanks, Melissa. I’m so grateful for my salvation. Sometimes I think we get pretty far along on the Christian journey, then we kind of lose sight of the basics to our faith…to Christianity. Jesus came to save…save us…save all people. The gospel is good, good news! It’s a message for sharing and getting out there as the core message of what we believe, for everything else about our belief centers around this one statement: Jesus saves! Hallelujah!

Karen, this is such a powerful post. Jesus is truly beyond description. I appreciate how you defined those “big meaning” words. They are fitting for who Jesus is.

I hadn’t thought about hashtags and how we can use them to share the gospel. You’ve got me thinking on this. 🙂

Karen says:

Jeanne, thanks so much. So grateful to know this unsurpassed, unmatched, and incomparable Savior, Jesus, and His salvation! Hashtags are a wonderful way to spread the gospel message. In one writers group I’m in, the leader encourages us to pay attention to what is trending on any given day on Twitter for example. Sometimes it’s a hashtag we can create a post around to get the message about Jesus out to the Twitter world. 🙂

Yvonne Morgan says:

This is a needed message and something we all should share more often to help others find Jesus. Thanks Karen

Karen says:

Yvonne, so true. If our world needs anything right now, it’s Jesus himself.

Pam Morrison says:

Karen, what a beautiful hymn to Christ and superb presentation of the gospel. This is THE message, THE thought, THE wisdom, as you said, so wonderfully. Thank you!

Karen says:

I like that, Pam, “THE message, THE thought, THE wisdom.” Even the Apostle Paul preached this message as the most important:

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I DELIVERED to you as of FIRST IMPORTANCE what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Emphasis mine)

Jessica Brodie says:

There is complete and unshakable power in the name of Jesus. Sometimes, I complicate matters of faith, but you are right: it all boils down to JESUS SAVES. He is the end and the beginning, the only way, and the savior of our souls. Than you for this awesome reminder, Karen!

Karen says:

Jessica, I was just telling someone else how we complicate our faith or just forget to remember and share the essentials of Christianity. Namely, God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us and rescue us from sin, the enemy, eternal punishment, spiritual death, AND give us abundant life in Him. Oh, what a Savior!

The Gospel is simple enough for children to grasp. We tend to complicate it in our quest to understand the deeper meanings inherent in the scriptures. But the basic, simple message is the main point. God bless!

Karen says:

Yes, Nancy. Sometimes it’s hard for us to keep the main point the main point. Especially as it relates to those around us who are in need of the Savior we follow, serve, and worship.

How easy it is to say wise things and helpful things, all the while leaving Jesus out of it. Thank you for sharing the truth today and pointing us all toward Christ!

Karen says:

And I never want to leave Jesus out of it, Emily. Jesus Christ is our greatest need and I’m not ashamed to say it…never ashamed of Him.

S.A. Foster says:

Love this post! Unsurpassed, unmatched, incomparable! Yes, Jesus Saves!

Karen says:

Thanks so much, S.A. Indeed we have been rescued by the King of kings!

Lisa notes says:

#JesusSaves is definitely a thought worth reminding ourselves of, again and again and again! Thanks, Karen.

Karen says:

It really is, Lisa. As Christ followers, we often get wrapped up in the deeper things of faith…all good stuff too. But only when we remember our foundation…our roots…the basics to CHRISTianity. Thanks for commenting.

Maree Dee says:

Amen! Thank you for pointing out what really matters – Jesus. Blessings t0 You – Maree

Karen says:

Thank you, Maree Dee. It really is all about Christ…all the time.

This gospel with the plainly spoken Scriptures never grows old. #JesusSaves. We can have a relationship with the unsurpassed, unrivaled, incomparable God through the sacrifice of our Savior. Thank you for sharing this very clear gospel.

Karen says:

And the gospel shouldn’t grow old, Stephen. Love that thought! I’m trying to be more intentional to ask the Lord to remind me of the essentials to my faith and salvation. So I don’t undermine or downplay it, but celebrate it!

Mary Geisen says:

Thank you for pointing us back to what is most important. Jesus saves! Your Scriptural references really made your thoughts complete.

Karen says:

You’re welcome, Mary. Sometimes in our pursuit of the higher things of faith, we need to be reminded of the basics…how Jesus rescued us and saved us. Our spiritual beginnings are the reason for our spiritual present. Thanks for commenting.
