You Have Mail: 6 Encouraging Letters From Hope

You have mail! Do you enjoy receiving encouraging letters by email or regular mail? My hand’s raised.

Perhaps the sender encourages our heart with a sweet note, an inspirational message, or a Scripture.

And it arrived at the perfect time.

Maybe you’ve seen the movie, “You’ve Got Mail” from the late 90’s. It’s a romantic-comedy starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan who send messages online to each other without realizing they are business rivals in the bookstore world.

But in this article, we will read encouraging letters from Hope. These are letters to encourage our heart, inspire us in our walk with Christ and remind us of God’s Word.

I pray we carefully read Hope’s words. Also, that we welcome Hope’s encouraging letters into our heart to live forever.

And please, let Hope’s notes override every hopeless thought you may be carrying today.

Unwavering Hope: Encouraging Letters

God’s child,

The heavenly Father gave me to you as a gift; a stable, certain, and secure hope. I never waver based on circumstances, people, or opinions. You see, in an uncertain world, I’m an undeniable hope, an unshakable anchor for your soul.

But you possess the choice to hold fast to the confession of your hope without wavering, for God who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). Because Christ lives in you, a glorious hope also resides in you (Colossians 1:27).

Sincerely, Unwavering Hope

Hope’s Message About Identity

Disciple of Christ,

When Jesus lives in you through the Holy Spirit, He brings me near. So hope’s not around the corner, off in the distance, on the other side of glory, or something you muster up in your own power. Jesus’ followers hope in Him—the hope above all hopes.

Hope describes your identity in Christ. Therefore, your Christian ID card contains descriptive terms: Beloved, heir, saint, chosen, forgiven, and free. You are the picture of hope.

Hope for the In-between: Encouraging Letters

Dear Sheep,

No matter how many valleys you walk through. Or, how far life takes you away from green pastures or the promised land. I’m with you every step of the way. So in the in-between times, never give up hope.

Instead, walk in authentic faith and hope believing the Good Shepherd cares for you. He works behind the scenes and brings His Word to pass at the right time. Even if it doesn’t match the way you hoped it would all turn out. And although your fears and doubts try to haunt you at times. God often works in ways you cannot understand on this side of heaven.

Yours truly, faith-filled Hope

Living Hope

Greetings Saint,

Though you suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed when you honor Christ as holy and Lord in your heart. Yet, stay prepared to give the reason for your hope to anyone who asks (1 Peter 3:13-14).

Prepare your mind for action by setting your hope fully on Jesus, a living hope, the grace brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3,13).

Because one day you will see; hope was always coming.

Hopeful in Christ

Hope in the Waiting: Encouraging Letters

Faithful one,

Even if the world falls apart and dark clouds hijack sunny days. When you wait on life to start looking up, you wait forever. Instead, look up to the Lord, your hope lies in Him (Psalm 39:9).

The drive-through window of life remains understocked with real hope. But the only hope worth waiting on rests in the Lord—straight from the ample, fully-stocked windows of heaven.

Because those who hope in the LORD and wait on Him renew their strength, soar like eagles, run without growing weary, and walk without being faint (Isaiah 40:31).

Divinely waiting

Hope’s Message of Comfort

Dear Grieving Soul,

You never grieve as those without hope. One day you will see loved ones in Christ who went to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:13).

Pain, grief, loss, hurt, and brokenness. There’s hope in every one. So, let go of every hurt, every loss, and every painful experience and memory. Then, lay it at the feet of Jesus.

You are never far from hope. In tragedy, hope’s there. During dark moments, hope covers with light. And hope soars above despair.

Signed, Comforting Hope

J.D. Wininger says:

Amen Ms. Karen. Hope is indeed something that resides in every Christian’s heart and soul. I’ve learned that the closer I get to God, the more I can depend and rely upon my hope in Him as it becomes self-filling. SO enjoyed this inspiring post ma’am. Thank you!

Karen says:

I like how you said, “…the more I can depend and rely upon my hope in Him as it becomes self-filling.” That’s a good word because every form of hope the world offers us soon fizzles and fades away. But as we rely and trust in the Hope of all hopes, the true Hope-giver, our hope becomes stronger. God bless!

It’s so easy to lose hope with a chronic illness. Some days I’m entirely non-functional, a lump on the couch, depleted, weary. Some days I have energy for a wealth of tasks before me. These days are followed by another day of depletion. Sometimes I’m so weak that I need someone else to pray for me. Without hope in Christ, I couldn’t keep going. He can sympathize with all I’m going through, and He loves me. “God often works in ways you cannot understand on this side of heaven.” — thank God that this is true!

Karen says:

Melinda, it must be easy to lose hope in your illness. I can’t imagine. My valleys often seemed long and hard and never-ending. But I’ve never dealt with something like this that goes on for so many years. Just telling your story in such an authentic way is inspiring to so many of us! Thankful for God’s hope and ways!

I found every one of these love letters inspiring, Karen. Those of us who believe in Jesus are never without hope, no matter how bleak things seem to be around us.
Blessings!

Karen says:

Hallelujah to that, Martha! No matter how many valleys you walk through. Or, how far life takes you away from green pastures or the promised land. Hope is with you every step of the way. God bless!

Jessica Brodie says:

So good!! What really struck me was the one on identity… how we are not “bad” or “condemned” but rather “beloved, heir, saint, chosen, forgiven, and free.” Thanks be to God!

Karen says:

Knowing who we are in Christ makes all the difference in the world, Jessica. You are the picture of hope.

Rebecca Payne says:

I look forward to your posts. Thank you!

Karen says:

Thanks so much, Rebecca. Your words are encouraging to me. Those who hope in the LORD and wait on Him renew their strength, soar like eagles, run without growing weary, and walk without being faint (Isaiah 40:31). God bless.

Love these letters from Hope. What a creative idea!

Thanks for reminding me my anchor is unshakeable!

Karen says:

Thank you, Jerralea! I’m glad these letters encouraged you! No matter how many valleys you walk through. Or, how far life takes you away from green pastures or the promised land, never give up hope.

Love how you pulled out these micro-messages and personalized them from Hope!
In a world given over to despair, how sad that many refuse to seek hope where it may be found!

Karen says:

Yes, Ava. There’s only one source of true hope, found in Jesus Christ.

Oh, Karen! I’m especially glad I took the time to read these encouraging letters of hope.
Thank you!

Karen says:

Hey Beckie, I’m so grateful you stopped by. And I know that you know what it means to have true hope. Even if the world falls apart and dark clouds hijack sunny days. When you wait on life to start looking up, you wait forever. Instead, look up to the Lord, your hope lies in Him (Psalm 39:9).

Yvonne Morgan says:

I loved these letters. What a lost art of writing letters. Thanks for the great encouragement. Thanks Karen

Karen says:

I know, Yvonne. I even enjoy getting a card in the mail with a handwritten note/letter inside. God bless!

I love this: “The drive-through window of life remains understocked with real hope. But the only hope worth waiting on rests in the Lord_…”
He is indeed our only hope. Thanks for such an uplifting post, Karen. God bless!

Karen says:

Nancy, thank you, glad this resonated with you. I like to imagine the windows of heaven opening up to shower us with hope not found on this earth!

All of these letters are beautiful. Hope in grief spoke the most to me, as I’m grieving my uncle who passed away Monday; more than that, my daughter who I’m estranged from.

Karen says:

Candice, I’m so sorry to hear about your estranged daughter and that your uncles passed away. We have a sure hope when it comes to grief and loss.
You are never far from hope. In tragedy, hope’s there. During dark moments, hope covers with light. And hope soars above despair.

I am thankful for the hope we have in God. Thank you for sharing such a powerful message.

Karen says:

Thank you, Melissa. Hope describes your identity in Christ: Beloved, heir, saint, chosen, forgiven, and free. You are the picture of hope.

There’s a hope in which I trust
for I’ve come to know it well,
as I do and as I must
walk the long dark roads of hell.
There’s a hope in cancer’s growl,
and world that does not seem to care,
such that I won’t throw in the towel
in hope I may yet breath free air.
Perhaps I’m soon to fade away,
perhaps my days have run too fast,
perhaps there really is no way
that I can make resistance last,
but if this is now my final inning
I hope that I will go down swinging.

Karen says:

Wow, Andrew, this poem is so powerful! Sorry I missed this from several weeks ago. Love every word! You are gifted! God bless!

Paula Short says:

These 6 letters are are definitely an encouragement for the soul.
