Time with Jesus Today Prepares Us for Tomorrow

Tomorrow’s challenges are unknown to us, but they are not unknown to God. So where do we get the strength to face the world’s unpredictable moments? Every moment spent with Jesus today is an investment in the faith, wisdom, and strength we”ll need tomorrow.
And Jesus is using today’s fellowship with Him to prepare us for whatever tomorrow may bring.
When my husband had a massive heart attack last November, he almost didn’t make it. Looking back over the last six months, I realize how much Jesus sustained me and my family during the six weeks in critical care. Even though my own world seemed uncdertain, Jesus continued to stay close and provide my daily spiritual bread.
Today’s Time with Jesus Is Tomorrow’s Strength
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary.” Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
Jssus often strengthens, teaches, and equips us before challenges arrive.
The strength we receive in prayer, Bible reading, and basking in the presense of Jesus each day, may be the strength we need for a diffucult tomorrow.
Daily Fellowship Builds Spiritual Stability
Consistent time with Jesus creates roots that help us stand firm when storms come.
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5 (NIV)
The person who trusts in the Lord becomes like a tree planted by water.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)
Because we don’t build spiritual endurance in the middle of a crisis; daily connection with Christ cultivates it beforehand.

Jesus teaches us to depend on Him every day. Even His instructions on prayer in Matthew 6 encourages us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” (verse 11, ESV)
And just as the Israelites depended on the Lord to send manna daily, the Bible also assures us that His mercies are new every morning. (See Lamentations 3:22-23)
Each day with Jesus provides wisdom, grace, and strength tailored for both today’s needs and tomorrow’s unknowns.
Tomorrow’s Victory Begins in Today’s Quiet Time
Many biblical victories were preceded by seasons alone with God.
Consider these examples:
David faced lions and bears before facing Goliath (1 Samuel 17).
Jesus Christ spent time in prayer before major moments of ministry (Luke 5:16).
The victories others see are often rooted in private moments with the Lord that no one else witnessed. I know now that prayer and my love-relationship with Jesus helped me during my husband’s extended stay in critical care.

Time with Jesus Changes How We Face Tomorrow

The goal isn’t simply preparation for circumstances—it’s becoming more like Christ. As we spend time with Jesus, He shapes our character so that whatever tomorrow brings, we can respond with faith, peace, and obedience.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
“ But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
My hsuband’s not only a living miracle, but I’m also a living testimony of how keeping Jesus close, helped me face one of the hardest seasons of my life.
Don’t underestimate today’s time with Jesus. What He is building in you today may be exactly what you’ll need tomorrow.
