You’re Seen and Known and Loved by God

God sees you, He knows what you’ve been through, and He loves you so completely. But we don’t have to chase God’s presence or love, we find it where we are. God sees every tear you shed and every wound you bear. And He knows and understands. Because you are seen and known and loved by God.
And this truth became more clear and comforting to me during my husband’s heart journey. Even though I often felt alone and unseen, God’s presence bathed me in peace and understanding.
Six weeks and a day at hospitals far away from home threatened to make my heart question God’s love for me. But there in the midst of all the uncertainty; God saw me, He understood what I was going through, and He loved me so perfectly.
So when we reflect on Psalm 139, the passage reminds us of God’s presence in all our moments—good and hard— from our first breath through today.
God sees you, He knows what you've been through, and He loves you so completely. Share on XSeen and Known
1. God Knows You Completely and Intimately
“O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.” Psalm 139:1-4 (ESV)
God has “searched” and “known” us. This isn’t surface-level awareness—He understands our thoughts, motives, fears, and even the things we haven’t said out loud yet. Fully known, yet not rejected.
2. You Are Never Outside His Presence
There is nowhere we can go where God isn’t already there—whether in heights, depths, light, or darkness. So He’s there in the middle of loneliness, anxiety, or feeling abandoned. Even in our hardest seasons, we are not unseen or alone. (Psalm 139: 7-12)

3. God Meets You Even in Darkness
While Mike was in critical care, anxiety and darkness threatened to hyjack my days. The uncertainty. The unknown. Like medical procedures with serious risks. Surgeries in an attempt to save his life.
Psalm 139 makes it clear that darkness is not dark to God. This is powerful for when we are walking through confusion, grief, or hidden struggles. What feels overwhelming or invisible to others is fully visible to Him—and He is present in it. Hallelujah!
“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,’ even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.” Psalm 139:11-12 (ESV)
4. Intentionally Created
“Fearfully and wonderfully made” is one of the most impactful truths in the Psalm. God gives us identity, self-worth, and purpose. You are not accidental—God was intentional in forming every detail of your life.

5. Known Before Your Life Unfolds
Psalm 139 reminds us of God knowing all our days before one came to be. Wow. This brings me comfort in uncertainty. Even when life feels out of control, our story is not unknown to Him.
“Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:16 ESV)
6. God’s Thoughts Toward You Are Precious
God’s thoughts toward you are countless and valuable. This challenges the negative self-talk we often carry and replaces it with truth—God’s perspective of you is loving and intentional.
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.” Psalm 139:17-18 (ESV)
7. Searched by God
The psalm ends with a surrender: “Search me, O God.” It’s personal and prayerful. We invite God to examine our hearts, reveal the hidden things, and lead us.
8. God Leads and Guides
It’s not just that God knows us—He guides us. His knowledge of us connects to His desire to lead us in the right way, not to condemn us. God, “lead me in the way everlasting!” Psalm 139: 24c (ESV)
Thank You, God

Father God, when I reflect on these great words in Your Word, I am grateful that You know and search me. Thank You how Your thoughts are intimate and loving for me. Since the womb, Your presence lovingly surrounds and guides me through all my days. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
