The World’s Greatest Need Is Jesus

If the world needs anything right now, it’s Jesus. Because the world’s greatest need always has been and always will be Jesus Christ.

Have you noticed the world seems to spiral out of control toward chaos and unrest more than ever?

We live in a world filled with evil, suffering, division, hatred, confusion, and troubled hearts.

And in the middle of it all, we’re constantly being told what we need to make things better.

More money. More power. And more control. Also, more pleasure. Don’t forget about more possessions and more recognition.

But the enemy has been deceiving humanity about our deepest needs since the beginning. And if we’re not careful, even as Christians, we can believe the same lies.

The truth is, what the world needs most isn’t something we can buy, achieve, possess, or experience.

The world needs Jesus.

And so do we.

Even believers must continually rein ourselves in from the things the world offers and remind ourselves of what is truly satisfying. How much more do those who don’t know Christ struggle to recognize their deepest need?

Let’s consider a few of the ways we can be deceived into believing we need something other than Jesus.

World’s Greatest Need: More Money?

Money itself isn’t evil. Scripture warns us about the love of money and what happens when it becomes the thing we pursue above God.

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” 1 Timothy 6:10 (NIV)

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” 1 Timothy 6:6–7 (NIV)

What a countercultural message. The world tells us that more is better. God tells us that godliness with contentment is great gain.

Paul goes on to tell Timothy to flee the love of money and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11).

We need more of Jesus.

The Path of Life: Finding Joy in God’s Presence

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 (ESV)

This is one of my favorite verses in the Psalms. And I have a special memory tied to the verse.

For our wedding, Mike and I made each other a recording to play at the ceremony during our vows. In my recording to Mike, I quoted Psalm 16:11 as something I wanted for our life together and how he is one of the pleasures for me in God’s right hand.

But the verse is also a beautiful and powerful reminder of several amazing things: we can’t manufacture real joy; God’s right hand contains pleasures (blessings); and God shows us how life is meant to be lived.

And as we read it, several reflection questions surface.

What are we really searching for? How is joy deeper than mere happiness? What does living in God’s eternal delight look like?

How to Live Life: God’s Presence

People often tell us that we self-define our life. But life for the believer is always God-directed and defined. And what better way for God to guide us daily than to dwell in His presence.

God doesn’t just give life—He shows us how life is meant to be lived.

And we find it all throughout the Bible. He will make straight our paths (Prov. 3:5-6). “This is the way, walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21). “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

The gospel fulfilled: Christ. Is. The. Path. Of. Life.

5 Reasons I’m Thankful God Gave Us Pets 

If you know me or have followed this blog for a while, you probably already know that I’m a dog lover. Over the years, our dogs have become so much more than pets—they’ve been beloved members of our family and a source of so much joy, comfort, and even life lessons.

Our first sweet pup was a little dachshund named Sadie. When Sadie turned two, the Lord blessed our family with another little companion—a five-pound pug we named Big-T. Those two brought so much love and personality into our home.

Sadie passed away just two weeks after her 15th birthday. Then, four months before his 16th birthday, we lost Big-T, who had also become a big part of our YouTube channel.

Both times, we were absolutely heartbroken. Our home felt different, and we felt a little lost without them.

Now we have our sweet pug, Winston, who will turn three in December. Oh, how much joy this little guy has added to our lives! He has reminded us once again just how special the gift of a pet can be.

As I’ve thought about the joy, love, and even heartache our dogs brought into our lives, I’ve realized there is so much to be thankful for. So I want to share five reasons I’m thankful God gave us pets—and five important things they teach us about life.

(1.) Pets Teach Us Unconditional Love

Pets love us through good days, bad days, and imperfect moments. They continue to love us regardless of our mood or mistakes. Their affection is often a sweet reminder of how deeply God loves us—His faithful and unconditional love.

(2.) Pets Bring Joy to Ordinary Days

A wagging tail, a silly habit, or a goofy greeting turns an ordinary day into something special. Pets have a way of helping us notice and appreciate little blessings.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (ESV)

Pets have a wonderful way of bringing unexpected joy into everyday moments. A playful puppy can remind us to recognize and celebrate the simple blessings God gives us.

Say Hello to Jesus and Farewell to Your Past

At the end of every YouTube video, my husband and I say, Until next time, we’re Friday’s…Forever. Then we wave and say goodbye, and even put up Winston the pug’s front paw so he can bid everyone farewell, too. 

Because our viewers really enjoy Winston waving his paw to the camera to say goodbye.

But some farewells make us sad. Like when a loved one or beloved pet passes away. Or a friend or family member moves across the country or to another country. 

Yet, when we say hello to Jesus, meet Him as Lord and Savior, we bid farewell to our past.

And yesterday’s goodbyes are good and indeed necessary for our spiritual journey. You see, looking forward and walking with Jesus each day grows our faith. Still further, it makes us more and more like Christ. 

Now let’s look at how we bid a farewell to who we were before Christ.

Say Hello to Jesus

In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul reminds us of our mortal bodies. God reconciles us to Himself in Jesus and gives us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of the immortal bodies and life we will live one day in heaven. And the power to live in Christ on earth. Because we are ambassadors for Christ and ministers of reconciliation to others.

Yes, our spirit and flesh still war within us. (See Galatians 5:16-26). But walking in the Spirit becomes possible when we access His holy power.
