When People Say I Take Jesus Too Far

Some people say I take Jesus too far. But it’s an affirmation for a true follower of Christ. Because you can’t take Jesus too far.

Instead, it’s about living life for Jesus. It’s about our life online and offline pointing others to Jesus. And it’s about never being ashamed of Jesus Christ or our faith.

Take Jesus Too Far Versus Casual Faith

Maybe you’ve noticed how the world is comforatable with causal faith. Like to stay quiet and private about spiritual beliefs.

You see, wholehearted devotion makes people uncomfortable. So when we follow Jesus openly, others often label it as “too much.”

But Jesus never asked for half-hearted commitment to Him.

In fact, He asks for all of us—our whole heart and devotion.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37b (ESV)

Also, Jesus didn’t call people to admire Him from a distance. He called people to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Real discipleship has always looked radical to the culture around it.

Great Faith Looks Extreme to Others

Every great move of faith looked extreme to somebody. We see this in the Old Testament with God’s people.

And in the New Testament, we see Jesus, the disciples, apostles, and others “rocking the boat” with religious leaders who wanted everyone to only think and act as them.
